Marriage Proposal on Sullivan’s Island

This was the second time I’ve photographed a marriage proposal. The anticipation is always exciting, and trying to remain stealthy is a unique challenge. Though the latter was much easier due to a bizarre occurrence of several family portrait sessions all taking place simultaneously.  I lingered by one group pretending I could be photographing with them (I’m sure that photographer thought I was crazy). I also enlisted the help of my friend Mike. We setup my D3s on a small sand dune in order to video the proposal as well. I gave him a quick 5-minute recording lesson and he did great! I also hid a Zoom H4N in the sand brush by where the proposal was taking place, and the audio came out crisp and clear. Basically, this was a bit of an I Heart Huckabees operation, and everything worked out well. Below are some pictures from that evening.
